Babic Advances Again at ITA Fall National Championships

INDIAN WELLS, Calif. – Oklahoma State women's tennis teammates Vladica Babic and Sofia Blanco wrapped up another day of action at the ITA Fall National Championships Thursday, with Babic moving on to the singles round of 16.

Babic won again on Thursday, tallying her second straight-set win of the week to move into the round of 16. The senior followed up an upset of the tournament's top seed on Wednesday with a 6-1, 6-4 victory over No. 57 Kaitlyn McCarthy of Duke.

Babic will match up with Florida International's Andrea Lazaro Friday for a spot in the quarterfinals. Although unseeded, Lazaro is ranked No. 29 in the nation in singles.

In doubles, Blanco and Babic were matched up with Northwestern's Alex Chatt and Lee Or in the first round of consolation action after a tough top-10 loss on Wednesday. Despite taking the first set, 6-1, the Cowgirls couldn't hold off the Wildcats and fell in three tight sets, 1-6, 7-6(4), 10-6.

Action in California is set to continue Friday morning at 9 a.m. PT with singles play.
