Four Cowgirls Earn Academic All-District Honors

GREENWOOD, Ind. – Oklahoma State had four players named to the 2017 CoSIDA Academic All-District Women's Soccer Teams, it was announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
Cowgirl seniors Michela Ongaro and Anna Beffer earned Academic All-District 7 First Team honors, while fellow senior Laurene Tresfield along with sophomore Julia Lenhardt were named to the Academic All-District 7 Second Team.
The Academic All-District teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. The teams are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada, with District 7 including Colorado, Idaho, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas and Wyoming.
Student-athletes named to the Academic All-District First Team advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced in December.
Ongaro graduated from Oklahoma State in May 2016 with a degree in finance and is currently pursuing an MBA. A three-time Academic All-Big 12 First Team performer, the OSU goalkeeper carries a 3.88 grade point average. On the field, Ongaro has recorded five shutouts and 75 saves for the Big 12 Conference champion Cowgirls.
The NCAA leader in assists this season, Beffer is also a three-time Academic All-Big 12 First Team honoree and owns a 3.76 GPA while double majoring in finance and sports management. Along with her career-high 12 assists, the All-Big 12 First Team midfielder has notched four goals and is the Big 12's leading scorer with 20 points.
Carrying a 3.75 GPA in university studies/education, Tresfield was named to the All-Big 12 Second Team as a defender this season while also collecting Academic All-Big 12 First Team honors for the third time in her career. The Paris, France native leads OSU in minutes played this season and has tallied two goals and an assist from her center back spot while anchoring a defense that has recorded nine shutouts.
Lenhardt owns a 4.00 GPA as she works towards a sports management degree and was named to the Academic All-Big 12 First Team for the first time this season. A midfielder, Lenhardt has started every game for the Cowgirls in 2017 and recorded two goals and an assist while ranking second on the team in minutes played.
