Babic and Blanco Head West for ITA Fall Championships
October 31, 2017 | Cowgirl Tennis
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State women's tennis players Vladica Babic and Sofia Blanco wrap up the 2017 fall season this week as they head to Indian Wells, Calif., for the inaugural Oracle ITA National Fall Championships.
Â
Beginning Wednesday and running through Sunday, the Oracle ITA National Fall Championships will feature a 64-player singles draw, while doubles consist of a 32-team draw. Matches will take place at the JW Marriott Desert Springs Resort & Spa and the Indian Wells Tennis Garden. Players qualified for the tournament through designated placings at earlier ITA National Championships and the ITA Regional Championships Presented by Oracle.
Â
Babic and Blanco qualified for the event earlier this month at the ITA Central Region Championships, where the Cowgirls swept the event for the third time in program history. The Cowgirl pair earned the doubles title with a win over ninth-ranked Leolia Jeanjean and Giulia Pairone from Arkansas. Babic completed the sweep as she dropped Debbie Vogasari of Kansas in the singles finals.
Â
With three top-10 wins under their belt so far this fall, including a win over the top-ranked doubles team of Michigan's Kate Fahey and Alex Najarian, Babic and Blanco will compete as the No. 4 seed at the event.
Â
Action at the event is set to start on Wednesday at 8 a.m. PT round of 64 singles, followed directly by round of 32 doubles.
Â
Draws, schedule of play, daily recaps and photo gallery links can be found on the Oracle ITA National Fall Championships event page. Live scoring via Tennis Ticker will be available at both site locations, while TempuZ will provide live streaming coverage from two courts at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden. Links to both live scoring and streaming are also available on the event page.
