STILLWATER — After winning his second individual title for Oklahoma State in leading the Cowboys to their eighth-consecutive Jamboree crown, senior Sylvester Barus was named Big 12 Co-Runner of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.
The Eldoret, Kenya native was honored alongside freshman Connor O'Neill from the University of Texas.
This is Barus' second career Runner of the Week award, with his last coming in September 2016.
At one of the nation's most difficult cross country courses, Barus ran an impressive 24:15.9 to lead the pack, which was six seconds ahead of OSU senior Hassan Abdi, who finished second.
The Jamboree competition included No. 22 Tulsa, No. 25 Ole Miss and in-state rival Oklahoma, among other schools.
Barus and the No. 9 Cowboys will take a short time to recuperate for their final regular season meet, the Penn State Open in University Park, Pennsylvania, on Oct. 13.
