Postgame Quotes - OSU vs. Cowley
October 12, 2017 | Cowgirl Softball
Head Coach Kenny Gajewski
On his thoughts about the game:
"Offensively, it wasn't the best effort that we've had. I thought it got better as the game went on. Our pitching was really bright again. I thought our kids threw the ball well and they continue to get better each day. Our defense was pretty good again as well. We just have to get better at-bats earlier in the game. That's the bottom line."
On leaving runners on base:
"We came out a little bit flat. I don't know if it was because of the back-to-back nights, but there's really no excuses from us. We just have to get better. I thought we swung the bat well later on in the game."
Shortstop Sydney Pennington
On hitting her first home run as a Cowgirl:
"It feels really good. I think what I've been trying to do is hit a home run every time. In that at-bat, I didn't think about anything, and that's when it came."
On her keys to success:
"Me and Coach (Gajewski) worked on a new stance and adjusting things for my swing. I think (adjusting my swing) is going to help me a lot this year. It's going to help me hit better off better pitching."
On her thoughts after the first four fall games:
"I think the first game, I was nervous, and ever since then I've been fine. I feel like I'm at home, and the girls are treating me like one of their own."
Pitcher Logan Simunek
On starting the game:
"It felt good. I like pitching at any point in the game, but starting it is definitely fun."
On scoreless streak:
"Well, we've definitely been working really hard, so we definitely deserve it. Everything we've been doing in practice has been showing out on the field, and that's why we've been successful. Jeff (Cottrill) has helped us out a ton, and we're really happy to have him helping us out."
On personal success:
"I'm just going out there and pitching and not thinking about it. I'm not getting frustrated, and I'm just having fun."
