Cowgirls Steady at No. 5 in ITA Team Rankings

STILLWATER – The Oklahoma State women's tennis team remained at No. 5 in this week's Intercollegiate Tennis Association national team rankings, which were released Wednesday morning.
The Cowgirls are coming off an opening weekend that saw the team notch three sweeps in as many matches. Within 24 hours, OSU defeated Oral Roberts, Louisiana Tech and North Texas at the Greenwood Tennis Center to move to 3-0 on the young 2017 season.
OSU was led by a number of impressive individual performances throughout the lineup, but none caught more attention than freshman Lena Ruppert who posted an outstanding showing in her first dual appearance inside the Greenwood Tennis Center. Ruppert was perfect on the weekend, not surrendering a single game to win all three of her matches, 6-0, 6-0, at the five and six positions.
With this week's rankings, the Cowgirls have now been ranked in the ITA top 25 for 43 consecutive weeks, and inside the top ten for four.
The Cowgirls return to the Greenwood Tennis Center this week to host the annual ITA Kickoff Weekend. The squad will open the weekend with Cornell on Saturday at 3 p.m. If the Cowgirls win, they will face either TCU or Wichita State on Sunday for a chance to compete at the ITA National Indoor Championships for the third-straight year.
