Last Time Out
The Pokes swept the top-five places in the 600-yard run with All-American Brandon Singleton leading the posse of Cowboys across the finish line in 1:12.21, the best time of the year for OSU in that event. Senior All-American Tre'Tez Kinnaird finished second, Tyler Jackson took third, Tanner Green took fourth and Heinrich van Niekerk claimed fifth.
Both Jennifer Celis and Danielle Coleman topped OSU's season's best list in the 600-yard run. Coleman won the race in 1:26.33 and Celis took second in her season debut with a time of 1:26.39.
Logan Daily ran a personal best in the 60-meter dash of 6.92 seconds. The time got him third in the race and puts the young Cowboy in a tie for the seventh-fastest mark in school history.
Baylor Nelson set a big personal best when she took eighth place in the weight throw. Her mark of 15.34m/50-4.00 was a foot better than her best from earlier this year and nearly got the Cowgirl sophomore onto the top-10 all-time list.
In total, the Cowgirls picked up 11 top-five finishes on the day led by Coleman's 600-yard win, Ieva Zarankaite's second-place throw in the shot put and the Cowgirl 4X400-meter relay team's third-place finish.
A Look Back - Razorback Invitational, 2016
At the Razorback Invitational in 2016, OSU went up against some of the best athletes in the NCAA and held their own, winning four event titles and running some of the fastest times of the year in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
John Teeters ran a 6.54 in the 60-meter dash to claim the win for the Cowboys.
Savannah Camacho won the invitational 800, Kaela Edwards claimed the mile and the women's distance medley relay team won for the Cowgirls.
All of the event winners at last year's Razorback Invitational went on to qualify for the NCAA Championships for OSU.
Cowboys, Cowgirls Remain in Top-20
The Oklahoma State Cowgirls landed at No. 14 and the Cowboys came in at 17 in the first regular season ranking from the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
Coach Dave Smith's Cowgirls dropped three spots after a small weekend of competition, but still remain the third-highest ranked team in the Big 12 behind perennial powerhouse Texas (No. 6) and Baylor (No. 9). Kansas State at 19 is the only other Big 12 team in the top-25.
Abbie Hetherington is the sole Cowgirl in the top-50 individually in an event, ranking 34th in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:09.87 from her first indoor race in two years at the Holiday Inn Invitational.
Although Kaela Edwards does hold the fastest 1,000-meter time in the world so far this year, the 1,000-meter run is not a recognized NCAA event, so the national champion has yet to put her name on an NCAA list this season, but is expected to officially open this weekend at the Razorback Invitational.
The Cowboys also fell three spots thanks in-part to two 10-place leaps from Alabama and Virginia, who now hold top-10 positions.
Texas (No. 7), and No. 12 Texas Tech are the only two Big 12 teams ahead of the Pokes, but Kansas sits at 20 after a 39-spot jump.
Malik Givens, Craig Nowak and Jacob Fincham-Dukes all hold top-50 NCAA marks this year in the 60-meter dash, 5,000-meter run and long jump, respectively.
To Be the Best, You Have to Beat the Best
This weekend in Arkansas, Oklahoma State will compete against teams in the top-25 and athletes with some of the best marks in the country, so far.
At last year's Razorback Invitational, of the 34 total event winners across both genders, 28 went on to earn All-America honors and seven won national titles including OSU's Kaela Edwards.
Among six events the Cowboys are expected to compete in, the Pokes will line up against nine athletes with top-five NCAA marks, including two with the best in the event in Tennessee's Christian Coleman (60m), and Florida's Grant Holloway (long jump).
As for the Cowgirls, in six events, the field in Fayetteville holds 10 top-five marks.
Although no athlete across the six events holds the fastest time in the NCAA, there are two runner-up marks in the 200-meter dash and the mile.
It's Just Natural
In recent history, Oklahoma State has had its fair share of success in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
Last season, the Cowgirls had four wins at the Randal Tyson Indoor Facility and six top-five finishes in two meets in Fayetteville, Arkansas, in the Razorback and Tyson Invitational.
In 2015, the Cowgirls had five top-five finishes in the Natural State with one coming at the NCAA Championships when Kaela Edwards finished runner-up in the 800.
The Cowboys have been just as successful in Arkansas, winning two events and picking up 14 top-five finishes since 2015. John Teeters had both wins in the 60, and one of the top-five finishes from the NCAA Championships in 2015.
