Cowgirls Fall in Doubles Semifinals at Stillwater Pro Tennis Classic

STILLWATER – The Oklahoma State women's tennis tandem of seniors Viktoriya Lushkova and Carla Tur Mari, along with the duo of former Cowgirl Kelsey Laurente and her teammate Catherine Harrison fell in three sets in the doubles semifinals at the Stillwater Pro Tennis Classic held at the Michael and Anne Greenwood Tennis Center Friday afternoon. Playing in front of an impressive home crowd, Lushkova and Tur Mari battled back from losing a tough, 6-3 first set to Mexico's Giuliana Olmos and Nazari Urbina by picking up a 6-4 triumph in the second to force a 10-point, third-set super tiebreaker that would decide the outcome of the match. Olmos and Urbina would be victorious in the tiebreak, however, winning 10-2 to eliminate the Cowgirl tandem.

Laurente and Harrison's match was also decided by super tiebreaker after the pair won an 8-6 tiebreaker to force a third set against a former Michigan Wolvorine tandem made up of Ronit Yurovsky and Emina Bektas. Laurente and Harrison would jump out to a 9-2 lead in the tiebreaker, but an impressive rally by Yurovsky and Bektas would prove triumphant, taking the match, 7-5, 6-7(6), 11-9, to advance.

The Cowgirl tennis team will be back in action this weekend when they travel to Pacific Palisades, Calif., to compete at the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships at the Riviera Tennis Club. Pre-qualifying action is set to get underway Saturday morning.
