STILLWATER--- The Oklahoma State Softball team kicked off their Alumni Weekend tonight in Cowgirl Stadium with a 13-1 win over the Cowley County Tigers.
Junior Alex Edinger led the way going 3-for-5 with three RBIs and one run scored to help lead the Cowgirls to victory. Edinger's performance follows her impressive against SNU last Friday in which she also went 3-for-5 with two RBIs to help lead Oklahoma State to victory.
With the win Oklahoma State moved to 127-12-2 in fall games since 2000 and 6-0 under coach Kenny Gajewski.
"It feels good, and anytime you win it's good," Gajewski said. "That's what the fall is for. It's to figure out what you need to get better at and what you're doing well."
After a scoreless first inning, the Cowgirls responded with an impressive second inning. Oklahoma State scored 4 runs in the second inning before they carried that momentum into the third inning with 3 runs more runs to take an early 7-0 lead.
The Cowgirls spread out six more runs over the next eight innings, including three in the final inning to secure the 13-1 victory.
Sophomore Christina Biggerstaff (1-0) went three innings in the starting effort for Oklahoma State to earn her first victory of the fall season. Biggerstaff allowed just one hit while strikiking out three in the starting effort.
Finally being back after missing last season is weird," Biggerstaff said. "But I like it. I'm glad to be back."
Alongside Edinger, the Cowgirls had standout performances from junior Rylee Bayless and sophomore Taylor Lynch. Bayless finished 2-for-3 with an RBI and drew two walks while Lynch finished 3-for-5 with an RBI.
