Lushkova, Tur Mari Advance to Doubles Semifinals at Stillwater Pro Classic

STILLWATER – The Oklahoma State women's tennis tandem of seniors Viktoriya Lushkova and Carla Tur Mari knocked off third-seeded Elizaveta Ianchuk and Bernarda Pera Thursday night to advance to the doubles main draw semifinals at the Stillwater Pro Tennis Classic held at the Michael and Anne Greenwood Tennis Center. Former Cowgirl Kelsey Laurente advanced as well.

Lushkova and Tur Mari battled it out with a pair of world top-300 doubles players in Pera and Ianchuk, ultimately clinching the upset in a thrilling, 11-9 tiebreaker.

After a back-and-forth first set, Pera and Ianchuk grabbed the frame, 7-5, to take the early advantage. The second set was equally as contentious, but Lushkova and Tur Mari forced a third set by winning a pair of straight games to clinch a 7-5 win in the second.

The match was decided in a third-set super tiebreaker that was as well-contested as the prior two sets. The two duos were neck and neck at nine games apiece through the first 18 games before Lushkova and Tur Mari were able to pull away and take the win to advance to Friday's semifinal match. The Cowgirl seniors are set to face Giuliana Olmos and Nazari Urbina of Mexico in the semifinals.

Also advancing was former Cowgirl Kelsey Laurente and Catherine Harrison with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Yuliya Beygelzimer and Victoria Bosio. Laurente and Harrison will face Emina Bektas and Ronit Yurovsky in their semifinal match.

Both semifinals are scheduled to start at 5 p.m. on Friday at the Greenwood Tennis Center. Admission is free, and fans can enjoy free hambergers and hot dogs courtesy of RCB Bank.
