Cowgirls Bow Out of Singles Competition at Stillwater Pro Classic

STILLWATER – Three members of the Oklahoma State women's tennis team were eliminated in the singles main draw round of 32 Wednesday afternoon at the Stillwater Pro Tennis Classic held at the Michael and Anne Greenwood Tennis Center.

Senior Viktoriya Lushkova opened the day with a match against Italy's Bianca Turati. Lushkova struggled to find a rhythm, and was outlasted by Turati, 6-2, 6-2. Junior Vladica Babic followed with a 6-1, 6-1 loss to Canada's Aleksandra Wozniak.

In her round of 32 match, Cowgirl senior Katarina Adamovic faced a tough test in former Michigan All-American Ronit Yurkovsky. Adamovic and Yurovsky battled throughout the first set, which Yurovsky would take in an 11-9 tiebreaker. Adamovic responded with a 6-2 win in the second set, despite being forced to take an injury timeout midway through the frame. Yurovsky would carry the third set, however, to take the match, 7-6(9), 2-6, 6-1.

Lushkova and senior Carla Tur Mari will compete in the doubles main draw Thursday afternoon, facing Elizaveta Ianchuk and Bernarda Pera around 2 p.m.
