Lushkova, Tur Mari Advance to Doubles Quarterfinals at Stillwater Pro Classic

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State women's tennis seniors Viktoriya Lushkova and Carla Tur Mari highlighted day three of the Stillwater Pro Tennis Classic, teaming up to knock off teammates Katarina Adamovic and Vladica Babic in an all-Cowgirl round of 16 match in the event's main draw Tuesday evening to advance to the quarterfinals.

Cowgirl tennis fans were treated to a pair of consecutive doubles matches with Oklahoma State ties on the No. 1 court Tuesday afternoon. First up, sophomore Sofia Blanco and freshman Aliona Bolsova teamed up to take on former Cowgirl Kelsey Laurente and former UCLA All-American Catherine Harrison. Despite an impressive stretch in the first set where Bolsova and Blanco were able to win three straight games, Laurente and Harrison's experience won out, downing the Cowgirl tandem, 6-3, 6-2, to advance.

In the final match of the night on court one, fans gathered to watch Lushkova and Tur Mari match up against Adamovic and Babic in a battle that would send one Cowgirl duo to the main draw quarterfinals. Although both teams battled it out, Lushkova and Tur Mari got the win in this particular matchup, 6-4, 6-3.

In qualifying singles earlier in the day, sophomore Katarina Stresnakova took on former Michigan standout Ronit Yurovsky, who finished up her Wolverine career last spring as an All-American with a final No. 12 ITA singles ranking. Stresnakova gutted out an impressive win in the first set by way of a 12-10 tiebreaker. After going toe-to-toe for the first couple of games of the second set, Yurovsky pulled away to force a third in which she would be victorious and Stresnakova would fall in a tough, 6-7(10), 6-2, 6-3 decision.

Plenty of Cowgirls will be in action Wednesday at the Greenwood Tennis Center, with Lushkova serving up the day with a faceoff with Bianca Turati at 10 a.m. Adamovic and Babic will follow that match up, taking on Yurovsky and Aleksandra Wozniak, respectively, in their round of 32 singles matches.
