Cowgirl Soccer: Looking Back & Ahead

Oklahoma State had its unbeaten streak snapped at four last weekend as the Cowgirls dropped their first two Big 12 Conference matches of 2016 on their home field, losing 1-0 to Iowa State Friday night before a 2-1 overtime setback against Baylor on Sunday. OSU is 5-5-2 on the season and faces a road test at Texas this week.

Weekend Highlights

OSU outshot Iowa State by a 15-8 margin and held a 7-4 advantage on corner kicks.
In Sunday's match against Baylor, Michela Ongaro recorded five saves on 11 shots by the Bears.
Marlo Zoller scored her third goal of the season against BU, and the sophomore forward now has three goals in her last five matches. The goal also marked Zoller's first ever in Big 12 Conference play.

OSU is tied for fourth nationally with 31 goals, trailing only Clemson (35), Furman (33) and Boston College (32). The Cowgirls are sixth nationally in points with 89 and rank 10^th in assists with 27.
Fifteen different Cowgirls have scored goals this season, while 12 different players have notched assists.
Along with leading the Big 12 in goals and points, the Cowgirls rank second in shots (196), assists (27) and corner kicks (77).
Of OSU's 196 shots this season, 90 have been on goal (.459).
OSU has had a different starting lineup in 10 of its 12 games. The lone matches in which the Cowgirls sent out the same starting 11 were Oklahoma and UCF. Ten Cowgirl newcomers — eight freshmen as well as a sophomore and junior transfer — have started games in 2016.
Courtney Dike is the Big 12's leading scorer with 17 points. Her six goals is tied atop the league with two other players, and she is tied for second in the conference with five assists.
Dike now ranks in the top 10 on the OSU career charts in goals (T-6^th with 27), assists (6^th with 19) and points (T-7^th with 73). She also ranks seventh on the Cowgirls' all-time list with 190 career shots
Dike has collected goals in six of OSU's 12 games this season. She has recorded a goal and/or assist in eight games.
Michela Ongaro ranks third in the Big 12 this season with 40 saves. The junior now has 155 career saves to rank sixth on OSU's all-time list.
Along with Dike, OSU midfielders Anna Beffer and Jaci Jones rank in the top 10 in the Big 12 in assists. The duo is tied for sixth with four assists on the season.
In this week's official NCAA RPI, OSU came in at No. 109. Other Big 12 teams: West Virginia (5), Oklahoma (6), Texas Tech (30), Iowa State (31), Kansas (35), TCU (43), Texas (54), and Baylor (99).

OSU plays just one match this weekend as the Cowgirls travel to Austin, Texas, to take on Texas at Mike A. Myers Stadium Friday night at 7 p.m. The game will air live on the Longhorn Network.
Texas is 6-4-1 on the season, which includes a 5-2-0 mark on its home field. The Longhorns opened Big 12 play last weekend by tying Baylor in Waco, 1-1, before suffering a 2-1 overtime loss at Oklahoma.
UT sophomore forward Alexa Adams leads the Longhorns' attack with five goals and a pair of assists on the season, while senior midfielder Julia Dyche is among the conference leaders with five assists.
OSU is 9-10-5 all time against Texas. The Cowgirls are unbeaten in their last four matches against UT (2-0-2), and last season in Stillwater, the match ended in a scoreless draw.
