Cowgirls Add Game With USSSA Pride
September 15, 2016 | Cowgirl Softball
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State softball has announced it will be taking on the USSSA Pride of the National Pro Fastpitch League on Oct. 20, head coach Kenny Gajewski announced today.
First pitch against the Pride is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Cowgirl Stadium.
The Pride bring one of the more talented rosters in all of softball with plenty of former collegiate stars. The roster is highlighted with 2016 NPF Player of the Year Kelly Kretschman, NCAA home run leader Lauren Chamberlain, 2015 Rookie of the Year Shelby Pendley, NCAA Player of the Year Sierra Romero, back-to-back NCAA Champions and former Gators Kirsti Merritt and Kelsey Stewart, as well as former Wolverine Lauren Sweet, 2013 Offensive Player of the Year GiOnna DiSalvatore, former Oregon Duck Courtney Ceo, and former Arizona Wildcat Hallie Wilson.
The main pitching staff during the Fall Tour is expected to include All-NPF pitchers Jordan Taylor and Jolene Henderson and former WCWS Most Outstanding Pitcher Hannah Rogers.
The Pride are coming off a season in which they reached the NPF championship game.
"I think for Oklahoma State it's a great opportunity to bring one of the best pro teams out there into our town," Gajewski said. "It gives everyone here a chance to see some of the best softball being played. It's going to be a pleasure to watch them play but it's also a chance for us to see how we stack up. We have a lot of kids with aspirations of playing in the NPF and you get to see right where you stand."
Admission for the game against the Pride will be $10 per person for reserved and general admission seats while all other fall games will be free.
Starting Sept. 19, current season ticket holders with reserved seats will have the first opportunity to purchase their tickets for the game.
After that, on Sept. 21 season ticket holders with general admission seats will be able to purchase tickets with the general public able to start buying tickets on Sept. 28.
Fans can purchase their tickets at the Oklahoma State ticket office or over the phone at 877-All-4-OSU.
For Gajewski, the game will be a reunion of sorts with four of his former players from Florida currently on the Pride's roster.
"I hope all of those kids will be there," he said. "I know they change their roster up on this deal. They don't bring everybody but I hope they bring a couple of those kids. It will be fun. We're just excited that they felt like this would be a good opportunity for them as well and I think that tells a little bit about where our program is heading. I think it's a great opportunity for us."
