June 03, 2016 | Cowgirl Equestrian
STILLWATER – NCEA All-American Ebba Lange has been selected by the NCEA as a representative for the "Ultimate Catch Ride" at the 2016 NRHA Collegiate Reining Championship.
The event will take place beginning at 8 a.m. on June 30 at State Fair Park in Oklahoma City as part of the NRHA Derby.
Lange, who compiled a 10-4 record on the season for Oklahoma State, was selected to the NCEA All-American Reining First Team. The Gnesta, Sweden native was also named to the All-Big 12 Reining Team, as well as the All-Big 12 Academic First Team last month.
Competing in both Reining and Horsemanship, Lange was a crucial part of the Cowgirls' success in the 2015-16 season. To go with her 10-4 record in Reining, Lange's individual high score of 72.5 was tied for the best score for the Cowgirls in the event this season.
The 12-person field also includes four collegiate riders selected by the NRHA and the top-four individual reiners from the IHSA National Championship.
The NRHA Derby runs for one week each summer in Oklahoma City and showcases the world's best reining horses in the four-to-six year age range. Thousands of spectators, exhibitors, and horses attend the event each year. The Derby is one of two major events presented by the NRHA each year in Oklahoma City.
