Adamovic Moves To Elite Eight

TULSA, Okla. - Oklahoma State's Katarina Adamovic advanced to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Singles Championship with a victory against Belinda Woolcock of Florida at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center on Friday.
Adamovic battled with the No. 11-ranked Woolcock for three sets to determine a winner.
"I'm fighting every match, I'm finding a way through all of my tiredness and emotions from the team competition," Adamovic said. "I just keep grinding."
After dropping the opening game of the first set, Adamovic won four-straight games. The junior closed out the set, 6-3.
Woolcock did not go away easily, as she took the second set, 6-4, by winning four games courtesy of the deuce point.
The Cowgirl fought past the fact that she was playing her fifth match in five days. Adamovic closed out the match with a 6-2 victory in the final set to advance.
"I cannot let fatigue or tiredness get in my way because I'm stronger than that," Adamovic said. "I put in a lot of work and I can't let those things stop me now.
Adamovic will now face No. 1 Hayley Carter of North Carolina on Saturday. The junior is the first Cowgirl to advance to the quarterfinal round since former Cowgirl and ITA Hall of Fame member Lori McNeil in 1983.
