Postseason Guide
STILLWATER—Oklahoma State softball returns to the postseason for the first time since 2011 with a trip to the Georgia Regional this week.
The Cowgirls will start with Northwestern on Friday at noon CT on ESPN3 with the winner facing either Georgia or Maine on Saturday.
"It's fun," sophomore Randee O'Donnell said. "This is a big step for this team, and a huge step for this program. So we're excited."
Oklahoma State is making its 19th appearance overall, and its first since 2011 when it reached the College World Series. The Cowgirls are 46-37 all time in the postseason, including a 15-3 mark in the first game of regional play.
"I think we're in a great spot," coach Kenny Gajewski said. "We've got a chance to go to a great town, a great school that has a lot of pride and plays well so it's a great opportunity for us."
A total of 64 teams were selected to the NCAA Tournament with 32 conferences being awarded automatic qualification, while the remaining 32 slots were filled with at-large selections to complete the bracket.
The regional format is a double-elimination tournament with the winner moving on to take on the winner of the Florida Regional.
Friday's game against the Wildcats can be seen on ESPN3 or heard on 105.5 FM in Stillwater.
