Cowgirls Face Georgia In Sweet 16

Match Notes - Georgia
The Cowgirls (26-4) will face Georgia, ranked No. 5, on Thursday at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma at 7 p.m.
OSU shutout Albany 4-0 in the first round to open the postseason. The Cowgirls took the doubles point courtesy of wins on courts one and two. Kelsey Laurente, Viktoriya Lushkova and Vladica Babic secured the sweep for the Cowgirls in singles, as all three won in straight sets.
The Cowgirls knocked off in-state rival Tulsa for the second time this season in the second round. OSU swept the Golden Hurricane in both meetings this season.
The Cowgirls earned victories on courts two and three in doubles. Laurente, Lushkova and Adamovic picked up wins in singles to secure a place in the round of 16.
The Cowgirls won the title outright the following week with a 4-0 victory against Kansas State in Manhattan. The regular season title is the first for the Cowgirls since 2001. OSU outscored conference opponents 36-5 during Big 12 play.
OSU also won the conference tournament, as they strung together three-straight shutouts against Kansas State, Kansas and Texas Tech to secure the first conference tournament title since 2003.
OSU has yet to lose at home this season and has won 24-straight matches at home dating back to last season.
Sixteen of the 26 Cowgirl wins have come at home. The Cowgirls have outscored opponents 125-28 during the spring season.
The Pokes have recorded 15 shutouts inside the Greenwood Tennis Center this season.
The Bulldogs have four players ranked in the ITA individual rankings: Ellen Perez (No. 5), Kennedy Shaffer (No. 28), Caroline Brinson (No. 30), and Silvia Garcia (No. 116).
Two Georgia pairings are ranked nationally: Ellen Perez and Mariana Gould (No. 10) and Kennedy Shaffer and Silvia Garcia (No. 81).
Katarina Stresnakova is currently on a five-match win streak, while Laurente has come out victorious in her last nine matches.
Lushkova has won 14-straight matches, 13 of which have come in straight sets. Carla Tur Mari is on a three-match streak, including two wins during the Big 12 tournament.
All three main Cowgirl duos are ranked in the ITA doubles rankings. Kelsey Laurente and Maria Alvarez, ranked No. 43, lead the charge for the Pokes at the No. 1 position.
Viktoriya Lushkova and Carla Tur Mari, ranked No. 54, have accounted for a 32-6 doubles record this season, including a 25-3 mark in dual matches.
Katarina Adamovic and Vladica Babic, ranked No. 79, have put together a 29-3 record this season, with 24 wins in spring competition. Adamovic and Babic have won 16 matches since their last loss, which came in February.
Best In The Big 12
Throughout the season, Oklahoma State had four different players earn Big 12 Player of the Week recognition.
Viktoriya Lushkova was the first Cowgirl to win the honor back on February 9. On March 2, Kelsey Laurente was awarded the honor.
Katarina Adamovic and Vladica Babic won the honor in consecutive weeks, with Adamovic winning on April 20 and Babic receiving the honor on April 27.
The 2016 season is the first time that four Cowgirls have been named player of the week.
Six members of the current Cowgirl roster were part of last year's tournament run.
Should the Cowgirls defeat Georgia on Thursday, OSU will face the winner of the Georgia Tech/Ohio State match.

Back 2 Back
For the second consecutive season the Cowgirls have advanced to the Sweet 16. Last season OSU moved to the round of 16 after defeating Boston University and Arizona State.Six members of the current Cowgirl roster were part of last year's tournament run.
