Vanessa Shippy Named Co-Big 12 Player Of The Year

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State softball's Vanessa Shippy was named the Co-Big 12 Player of the Year, it was announced today.
Shippy, a sophomore, is the second Cowgirl to receive the honor and the first since Lauren Bay in 2003.
She was also named to the All-Big 12 First Team.
The Idaho native led the Big 12 with her .430 batting average, her 55 runs scored and her .545 on base percentage. She finished tied for third in the Big 12 with her 71 hits, second with her 39 walks and sixth with her 14 doubles
Shippy wasn't the only Cowgirl to take home Big 12 honors.
Freshmen Taylor Lynch and Madi Sue Montgomery were named to the All-Big 12 Second Team and the All-Big 12 Freshmen Team.
Lynch batted .401 on the season with 39 RBIs, and notably broke the school record for consecutive games with a hit with 23 straight. Montgomery hit .321 on the year, and had the second most RBIs in the Big 12 with 53.
