Cowboys Finish Seventh In Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS — Oklahoma State's men's golf team wrapped up play at the Southern Highlands Collegiate on Wednesday with a 300 total during its third round to finish seventh at Southern Highlands Golf Club.
The Cowboys finished at 886, 22-over, and one shot behind Texas Tech at the par-72, 7,374-yard layout. Southern California won the event with a 5-over total of 869, finishing four shots ahead of Florida.
The Gators produced the event's individual medalist in Sam Horsfield, who posted his second consecutive 70 to finish at 7-under 209 and four shots clear of the field.
A pair of Cowboys finished in the top 20 with sophomore Brendon Jelley and senior Jordan Niebrugge tying for 19th place at 221. Jelley, who earlier in the day was named the Big 12 Golfer of the Month, closed with a 74, while Niebrugge finished with a 75.
OSU's low round of the day came courtesy of freshman Zach Bauchou, who signed for a 73 to finish at 224 and tied for 38th place. Joining Bauchou at 224 was junior Wyndham Clark, who posted a 78 during his third round.
Junior Zachary Olsen finished with a 231 total after recording an 83 during his third round, tying him for 61st place.
Jelley's golfer of the month honor came after he earned his first Top 20 of the season in the spring opener at The Amer Ari Invitational in Hawaii.
The Tulsa, Okla., native then earned his first career victory at the John Hayt Collegiate Invitational to close out the month and help the Cowboys to their second team title of the year. Jelley opened with a 70 before posting rounds of 68 and 69 to finish at 9-under 207 and four shots clear of the field. Jelley posted a 69.83 scoring average for the month.
