Cowboys Second After Day One At Big 12 Championship

Day 1 Results
TRINITY, Texas — Oklahoma State's men's golf team opened play on Friday at the Big 12 Championship with a 36-hole total of 592 to finish the day alone in second place at Whispering Pines Golf Club.
The Cowboys' 16-over total included rounds of 292 and 300, putting them seven shots off the pace set by Texas at the par-72, 7,473-yard layout. Texas posted a 585 tally over its first two rounds, while Texas Tech carded a 593 score to stand in third place.
TCU's Paul Barjon and Texas' Beau Hossler were the only two players to finish the day under par, standing at 2-under 142 to share the top spot on the leaderboard.
Stratton Nolen led the way for the Cowboys starting five, posting an even-par 144 to claim sole possession of third place. The sophomore opened with a 71 before posting a 73 to get to his total.
Sophomore Kristoffer Ventura followed an opening 72 with a 75 to finish the day tied for seventh place at 147.
Senior Jordan Niebrugge turned in a pair of 74s to stand at 148 and tied for 10th place.
Junior Wyndham Clark wrapped up his first day tied for 21st place at 153 after signing for rounds of 75 and 78, while sophomore Brendon Jelley posted a 154 total that included rounds of 76 and 78 to come in tied for 25th place.
The Cowboys will begin their third round tomorrow at 8 a.m. (CST) and will be paired with Texas. Live scoring is available at golfstat.com.
