Cowboys Remain Second at Big 12 Championship

TRINITY, Texas — Oklahoma State's men's golf team carded a 280 during its third round at the Big 12 Championship on Saturday to remain alone in second place at Whispering Pines Golf Club.
The Cowboys posted the low round of the day, but were unable to make up any ground on Texas, which also posted an 8-under score to stay seven strokes clear of the field. The 280 scores matched the lowest ever posted at Whispering Pines in Big 12 Championship action.
The Longhorns stand at 865, 1-over par, through 54 holes, while OSU is second at 872 and Texas Tech finished the day in third place at 874.
TCU's Paul Barjon fired a 68 during his third round to stand atop the individual leaderboard at 6-under 210.
Cowboy sophomore Stratton Nolen was one of three players to grab a share of second place at 212. Nolen signed for a 68 during his third round to remain two shots off the lead.
After opening with a birdie at the par-4 first, Nolen carded his second birdie of the round at the fourth and moved to 3-under par with another at the seventh. After posting his lone bogey of the day at the eighth, Nolen eagled the ninth to turn at 4-under 32 before putting together an inward nine comprised of nine consecutive pars to get to his 4-under total for the day.
Nolen was joined in the top 10 by senior Jordan Niebrugge and sophomore Kristoffer Ventura, who each came in tied for seventh place at 218. Niebrugge posted his low score of the event with a 70, while Ventura did the same with a 71 during his third round.
Sophomore Brendon Jelley bounced back from a 78 during his second round with a 71 as well to stand at 225 and tied for 23rd place.
Junior Wyndham Clark's 73 tied him for 26th place at 226.
The Cowboys will begin their final round tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. (CST) and will be paired with Texas. Live scoring for the event is available at golfstat.com.
