Freeze Pitches Complete-Game Shut Out In Win Over Missouri State

Stillwater, Okla.---- Oklahoma State shut out Missouri State in a 4-0 win at Cowgirl Stadium on Wednesday.
Kacy Freeze (6-4) pitched a complete game and gave up just two hits in her second shutout of the season. The performance was her fifth complete game of the year.
"(Freeze) did a great job," Coach Kenny Gajewski. "She's been working hard to change speeds and I think it showed. It was a great day for her."
At the plate Madi Sue Montgomery led the way for the Cowgirls (12-11) with two RBIs.Â
Both team found themselves in a pitchers dual until the bottom of the fourth when Randee O'Donnell stepped to the plate and delivered for Oklahoma State with an RBI-bunt single to give the Cowgirls a 1-0 lead.
"We just needed a run," Gajweski said. "I felt like if we could just break the seal we could finally get things going. I tried to (bunt twice) and we missed a sign. We just needed a chance. (O'Donnell) has been struggling, it was the perfect time so it worked out well."
The score wouldn't stay close for long as Montgomery singled up the middle to bring home two runs and give the Cowgirls a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the fifth.
Freeze shut down the Bears the final two innings, surrendering no hits to complete the win.
As a team the Cowgirls finished with 11 hits and stole seven bases. The win extended the Oklahoma State win streak to five games and moved the Cowgirls above .500 once more.
"(The win) feels great," Montgomery said. "Our team is doing what we need to do. It's spring break and we're practicing. It's not necessarily what everyone wants to do on spring break but we're making it how we want it. We're going out to eat as a team. We're just getting closer and everything is falling into place. It feels great."
