Dickerson Wins Distinguished Alumni Award

STILLWATER – Former Cowgirl Equestrian rider Kristin Dickerson was named the winner of the NCEA's Distinguished Alumni Award in the Media & Communications field.

Distinguished Alumni are recognized in eight categories including Business, Community Engagement, Education, Equine Industry (Rider/Trainer/Coach), Equine Industry (Medical/Pharmaceutical), Health Sciences/Services, Media & Communication, and Young Alumni. Â Distinguished Alumni are separated from their institution for at least six years prior to nomination and are recognized as distinguished in the following areas: academic success, athletic success, outstanding service contributions, and post-graduate success. Â

Dickerson, who was on the Cowgirl Equestrian roster from 2000-2004, is now a news anchor at KTUL-TV in Tulsa, where she began as an intern in 2004.

In the arena, she was the Varsity National Champion in Reining and the Reserve National Champion in NRHA Intercollegiate Derby in 2003.

2004 was just as successful for the Cowgirl, as she was the National Champion in the NRHA Intercollegiate Derby and the IHSA National Champion AQHA Cup winner.

At KTUL-TV, Dickerson has won many awards, including the 2015 National Gracies Award: Anchor and the 2014 National Gracies Award: Producer, as well as receiving numerous Emmy award nominations.
