Cowgirls Handle Kansas For Win No. 20

STILLWATER, Okla. – Oklahoma State women's basketball won its second matchup of the season against Kansas, 71-49, on Wednesday night in front of 3,275 fans inside Gallagher-Iba Arena.

OSU improves to 20-7 (10-6 Big 12) with the win, extending the Cowgirls' streak to five-consecutive seasons of reaching the 20-win mark.

The victory also marks the fifth time in program history that OSU has won at least 10 conference games.
Brittney Martin and Kaylee Jensen led the way for the Cowgirls in the first quarter by combining to score 16 of OSU's 17 points during the game's first 10 minutes.

After less than five minutes of play, Martin scored her sixth point of the contest and two minutes later found Jensen in the post for the easy layup. The assist was Martin's 300th of her career and her six points put her past 1,700, making Martin the first player in school history to record 1,700 points, 1,000 rebounds, 300 steals and 300 assists.

The All-American was dominant once again as she finished the contest with 24 points (12-16 FG), seven rebounds, four assists and three steals. Meanwhile, Jensen tallied her ninth double-double of the season, scoring 18 points and grabbing 12 rebounds.

Dominant defense was also theme throughout the first half for the Cowgirls as they held the Jayhawks to just nine points in both of the game's first two quarters. OSU has held its opponents to single-digit point totals in 16 quarters, including 13 in Big 12 play.

Early in the fourth quarter, Sydney Walton hit a baseline jumper of her own to record her second double-digit scoring effort of the season. Walton would finish with a career high 11 points.

The rest of Cowgirls were efficient offensively as well, shooting 54 percent from the field to improve to 7-0 when shooting better than 50 percent this season.

Next up, OSU will travel to Morgantown, W.V. on Saturday to take on West Virginia in its final road game of the regular season. Tip off is scheduled for 6 p.m. inside the WVU Coliseum.
