SAN ANTONIO – The Oklahoma State football team is just five days away from facing Colorado in the 2016 Valero Alamo Bowl, and has already arrived in San Antonio to begin its preparations.
The Cowboys received a warm welcome when they arrived at their hotel yesterday, and the Tulsa World's Mark Cooper was there to witness and recap all the festivities. Read all about it in his article here.
As OSU's final contest of the 2016 season, the bowl game has provided a chance to look back on all that has led the team to this point.
The Oklahoman's Kyle Fredrickson wrote about Cowboy offensive lineman Victor Salako's unique career path and how he was able to wrap up his collegiate career with all-conference honors, while Kendrick Marshall of the Tulsa World summarized how running back Justice Hill looks back on his freshman campaign.
ESPN's Jake Trotter had lofty praise for Hill's season, naming him the No. 1 true freshman performer in the Big 12 this year.
When it comes to some storylines around the Alamo Bowl, Fredrickson wrote an interesting piece about the similarities in the career paths of Mason Rudolph and Colorado quarterback Sefo Liufau. He writes that "Liufau, like Rudolph, will go down as one of the greatest quarterbacks in his school's history."
Cooper also had another interesting article where he caught up with former Cowboy quarterback Brandon Weeden as he reflected on OSU's last Alamo Bowl appearance in 2010 and Weeden's decision to return for the 2011 season. That 2011 season ended with a Big 12 Championship and Fiesta Bowl victory.
