Cowgirls Fall in Title Game At Play4Kay Shootout

LAS VEGAS – Oklahoma State's women's basketball team was dealt its first loss of the season on Wednesday night, suffering a 73-54 loss to Oregon State in the championship game at the Play4Kay Shootout at T-Mobile Arena.
The Cowgirls fell to 10-1, while the Beavers improved to 10-1 on the year.
OSU found success early on in the paint, getting 17 combined points from juniors Kaylee Jensen and Mandy Coleman in the first period to lead, 19-17.
Jensen scored five consecutive points early in the second quarter to stake the Cowgirls to a 24-19 lead. However, OSU would go cold down the stretch in the first half, enduring a 1-of-8 stretch that saw Oregon State move in front, 35-30.
For the half, Jensen scored 15 of her game-high 24 points and kept OSU within striking distance at 37-32.
Oregon State hit OSU with a quick 6-0 run to extend the lead in the third to nine and the Cowgirls would never recover. The Beavers used another 5-0 run a minute and a half into the final period to extend to a double-digit margin at 55-43.
Coleman joined Jensen in double figures with 15 points.
Mikayla Pivec was one of three Oregon State players to reach double figures, finishing with a team-high 17 points.
Jensen was named to the all-tournament team after averaging 22.3 points, 9.0 rebounds and 2.7 blocks in three games at the event.
OSU will be back in action on Dec. 29 when it begins conference play at home against Iowa State at 5 p.m.
