Cowboys Finish Up Non-Conference Play With Win Over Texas A&M-CC

STILLWATER – Phil Forte, III, scored 19 points to help Oklahoma State defeat Texas A&M-Corpus-Christi 92-70 on Thursday afternoon in Gallagher-Iba Arena.
Forte connected on 5-of-10 shot from 3-point, which are the most he's had in a game since hitting six against Kansas State as a sophomore. It brings him to within 28 of the Oklahoma State career record. Forte has 271 career 3-pointers to his credit.
Jeffrey Carroll scored 13 points, Lindy Waters had 12 and Mitchell Solomon added eight points and a career-high 14 rebounds, including nine offensive rebounds for Oklahoma State. He had 11 boards in 12 minutes in the first half to set the career high by the break.
Jawun Evans put up six points for the Cowboys and added four assists. In his most extensive action of the season, Davon Dillard scored eight points and grabbed six rebounds - both career highs.
The Cowboys outscored the Islanders 18-5 from the free-throw line and forced 21 turnovers in their final non-conference game. The OSU defense has forced every opponent to commit at least 15 turnovers, and has racked up at least seven steals in every game.
Ehab Amin scored 23 points and Rashawn Thomas added 15 for the Islanders.
The Cowboys are now 10-0 all-time against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, and 56-8 against teams from the Southland Conference. OSU is now 6-0 at home this season, and are now 10-2 overall. The last time OSU reached 10 wins fast than 12 games was in 2013-14, when they started the year 10-1.
Oklahoma State could work its way into the Top 25 after this win. The Cowboys were 30th in votes in this week's poll. They have wins over Connecticut, Georgetown, Tulsa and Wichita State. Their only losses are to North Carolina and Maryland.
