Cowgirls Well Represented On Academic All-Big 12 Team

IRVING, Texas – Oklahoma State placed 13 student-athletes on the 2016 Academic All-Big 12 Conference Soccer Team, with each of them earning first-team recognition, it was announced by the conference office today.
OSU's 13 first-team honorees ties for the second most in program history, just one behind last season's record 14.
Highlighting OSU's selections are Natalie Calhoun, Courtney Dike and Niki McKnight, who each earned Academic All-Big 12 First Team accolades for the third time in their careers, as well as a pair of Cowgirls – Ashton Hierholzer and Tori Ruszkowski – who made the team with a 4.0 grade point average.
Four OSU juniors made their second-career appearance on the Academic All-Big 12 First Team, with Anna Beffer, Holly Brehmer, Michela Ongaro and Laurene Tresfield earning that distinction.
First-time OSU selections were seniors Hierholzer, Ruszkowski, Katie Howard, Christina Jean-Charles and Joanna Robertson, as well as sophomore Marlo Zoller.
The 2016 Academic All-Big 12 Soccer Team is made up of 106 student-athletes, with 92 on the first team and 14 on the second team. First-team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 grade point average or better, while the second team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.
To qualify for Academic All-Big 12 honors, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the previous two semesters and must have participated in 60 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
