Adamovic and Babic Fall in All-American Doubles Consolation Finals

PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. – The Oklahoma State women's tennis doubles tandem of Katarina Adamovic and Vladica Babic fell just short of a spot in the USTA/ITA National Indoor Championships Sunday afternoon, dropping their doubles consolation final match to top-ranked Mami Adachi and Aldila Sutjiadi of Kentucky at the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships.
The Wildcat duo jumped up on Adamovic and Babic early to start the match taking the first three games. The early hole would be too big for the Cowgirls to dig out of as Adachi and Sutjiadi took the match, 8-3.
The loss wraps up what was an impressive run for Adamovic and Babic, as the pair knocked off the No. 4, No. 7 and No. 11 ranked doubles teams in the nation en route to the consolation championship match.
The Cowgirls as a team had a successful week at Riviera as well, advancing Babic, Adamovic and senior Viktoriya Lushkova into the singles main draw round of 16. OSU was one of three teams in the draw to advance multiple players into the round of 16, and the only team to advance three.
The Cowgirls will be back in action this weekend when they head to Minneapolis, Minn., to compete at the ITA Central Region Championships, which are set to begin Thursday. Meanwhile, Adamovic will travel to Malibu, Calif., for the Oracle/ITA Masters beginning Thursday as well.
