Cowgirls Prepare For Butler

STILLWATER---- Oklahoma State softball returns to action tomorrow, Oct. 6, against Butler County at Cowgirl Stadium.

First pitch is set for 6 p.m. with free admission.

"I think we're getting better just by seeing live pitching and live ground balls even though we get them in practice," junior Rylee Bayless said. "I still think a game is different."

Oklahoma State (2-0) comes into the game with wins over SNU and Cowley County to start the fall season. The Cowgirls have outscored opponents 27-4 to take their record to 6-0 in fall games under coach Kenny Gajewski and 126-12-2 since 2000.

Junior Whitney Whitehorn and Sophomore Christina Biggerstaff have earned the starts and wins for the Cowgirls, while a mix of newcomers and returners has led Oklahoma State at the plate.

Bayless and fellow junior Alex Edinger have stood out for the Cowgirl newcomers while Vanessa Shippy and Kristin Reasnor have led the returners on the offensive end. Bayless is 4-for-8 on the fall with three RBIs while Edinger is 6-for-10 with three RBIs. Shippy is 5-for-6 while Reasnor is 4-for-9 with five RBIs.

The Grizzlies come to Stillwater fresh off back-to-back wins over UMKC and Kansas in Lawrence on Oct. 2. Butler enters the year looking to defend its 2016 NJCAA Division I National Championship this spring.
