Three Cowgirls Advance into Second Day of Qualifying at Riviera

PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. – The Oklahoma State women's tennis duo of Sofia Blanco and Aliona Bolsova advanced into the second round of doubles qualifying, while senior Viktoriya Lushkova picked up a pair of wins in singles to move into the final round of qualifying Tuesday at the ITA All-American Championships.
Bolsova and Blanco opened the day for the Cowgirls with a comeback win over Alexandra Solovyev and Rima Asatrian of Columbia. After the first nine games, Bolsova and Blanco were a game away from elimination, trailing 7-2. The pair of Cowgirls stormed back, however, storming back to win five-straight games to force a tiebreaker that they would take, 7-1, to advance into the second round of qualifying.
Lushkova picked up two wins Tuesday afternoon to extend her winning streak to 20 matches and put herself a win away from advancing into the main singles draw. The Ukrainian senior opened her senior season with a 6-2, 6-2 win over No. 51 Natalie Suk of Ole Miss in the first round of qualifying. Lushkova would follow up that win with a 6-3, 2-6, 6-1 victory over Pepperdine's Ashley Lahey.
In doubles, the Cowgirl tandem of Viktoriya Lushkova and Carla Tur Mari fell to Caroline Brinson and Kennedy Shaffer of Georgia, 8-7(4), in their first-round match.
Bolsolva and Blanco will face off with Niehaus and De Santis of Ohio State Wednesday morning at 12 p.m. CT in their second-round qualifying match. Lushkova will face off with Texas Tech's 106th-ranked Felicity Maltby Wednesday at 1:45 p.m. CT.
