The Oklahoma State Equestrian team lost to No. 6 SMU, 10-8, in Dallas on Saturday. The match came down to the last two rides on Equitation on the Flat, with SMU winning both points.
The Cowgirls started the day off with an impressive 4-1 win in Reining. Ebba Lange, Danielle Cohen, Hannah Mitchell and Alexa Beaty all won their matchups. Beaty had the highest score in Reining with a 70.
Lange was honored as an MOP for her Reining performance. A 2016 NCEA All-American, Lange is now 2-0 in Reining this season.
"I couldn't be more proud of Ebba," said OSU head coach Larry Sanchez. "She has developed a confidence in her riding that is very evident each time she rides."
In Equitation over Fences, Jorden Davis and Katie Jones won their matches to put OSU up 6-4 at the halfway mark of the competition.
Freshman Nicole Campbell competed for the first time as a Cowgirl and won her matchup against SMU's Ashley Mauney, 71.5-70.5. Sarah Miller and Kirsten Chamberland also tied their Horsemanship matchups.
With the loss, the Cowgirls fell to 1-1 on the season. They are back in action at home against Baylor on Oct. 22.
