STILLWATER – Former Cowgirl Equestrian rider Kristin Dickerson has been nominated for the NCEA Distinguished Alumni Award.
Â
The award recognizes former riders who have made significant contributions in a professional field after the completion of her degree at any NCEA participating institution.
Â
"Kristin is an incredible individual who has taken her God given talents and used them in a very special way," Head Coach Larry Sanchez said.
Â
Dickerson, who was on the Cowgirl Equestrian roster from 2000-2004, is now a news anchor at KTUL-TV in Tulsa, where she began as an intern in 2004.
Â
In the arena, she was the Varsity National Champion in Reining and the Reserve National Champion in NRHA Intercollegiate Derby in 2003.
Â
2004 was just as successful for the Cowgirl, as she was the National Champion in the NRHA Intercollegiate Derby and the IHSA National Champion AQHA Cup winner.
Â
At KTUL-TV, Dickerson has won many awards, including the 2015 National Gracies Award: Anchor and the 2014 National Gracies Award: Producer, as well as receiving numerous Emmy award nominations.
Â
"I look forward to seeing how far she will go in her profession," Sanchez said.
Â
The presentation of the awards will occur at the NCEA National Championship Opening Ceremony in Waco, Texas in April.
