Oklahoma State celebrated its 2015 soccer season with a postseason banquet last weekend.
Seven Cowgirl seniors were recognized for their contributions to the program over the last four years — Kelsey Bass, Delaney Kiely, Haley Maurice, Madison Mercado, Lauren Reyes, Allie Stephenson and Madeline Wood.
Several awards were presented to highlight individual accomplishments. These were voted on by the players and included:
MVP – Allie Stephenson
Offensive MVP – Allie Stephenson
Defensive MVP – Delaney Kiely
Bob Conner Award (hardest worker) – Michela Ongaro
Most Inspirational – Niki McKnight and Haley Maurice
Most Improved – Tori Ruszkowski
Coaches Award – Courtney Dike
The 2015 Cowgirl Soccer season was one that included a number of impressive superlatives, including:
• Oklahoma State finished 9-9-2 overall and 2-4-2 in Big 12 Conference play.
• OSU had three All-Big 12 Conference performers in 2015 as senior midfielder Allie Stephenson was named to the All-Big 12 First Team, while junior defender Natalie Calhoun and junior forward Courtney Dike earned All-Big 12 Second Team accolades.
• 2015 marked the third time in Stephenson, Calhoun and Dike's careers they have earned All-Big 12 honors, making each of them one of only seven players in OSU history to achieve all-conference status at least three times.
• Allie Stephenson was named an All-Big 12 First Team performer for the second consecutive year, becoming just the fifth Cowgirl to earn first-team all-conference honors multiple times in a career.
• Forward Marlo Zoller was named to the Big 12 All-Newcomer Team.
• Senior midfielder Allie Stephenson and junior forward Courtney Dike were each named to the NSCAA All-Central Region Third Team.
• Stephenson ends her career as a three-time NSCAA All-Central Region honoree as she made the third team as a sophomore, junior and senior.
• Dike earned NSCAA All-Central Region Third Team plaudits for the second consecutive year.
• Allie Stephenson, Courtney Dike and Madison Mercado were named to the Preseason All-Big 12 Team.
• Allie Stephenson ranked in the top 10 in the Big 12 in goals (6), points (14) and shots (50).
• Courtney Dike ranked third in the Big 12 with seven assists and was also in the top 10 in the league in goals (5), points (17) and shots (53).
• Stephenson finished her career third all time at OSU with 217 shots, and her 20 goals and 13 assists rank just outside the top 10 on the Cowgirls' career list.
• Sophomore goalie Michela Ongaro recorded 63 saves and five shutouts in 2015 and now ranks sixth all-time at OSU with 115 saves and nine shutouts.
• Senior Madison Mercado finished her career with 181 shots, which ranks seventh on OSU's all-time list. Mercado also recorded 13 assists, which ranks just outside the top 10.
• OSU earned the NSCAA Team Academic Award for the 14th-straight year with a team GPA that exceeded 3.0.
• The Cowgirls had a program-record and conference-leading 15 players named to the Academic All-Big 12 Team, with 14 of those earning first-team honors. Making the first team were seniors Kelsey Bass, Delaney Kiely, Haley Maurice, Madison Mercado, Lauren Reyes, Allie Stephenson and Madeline Wood. Juniors on the first team were Natalie Calhoun and Courtney Dike, while sophomores Anna Beffer, Holly Brehmer, Michela Ongaro and Laurene Tresfield and redshirt freshman Lana Duke were also first teamers. Sophomore Abbey Bright was named to the Academic All-Big 12 Second Team.
• Madison Mercado and Allie Stephenson were selected as two of the 30 candidates for the 2015 Senior CLASS Award, which celebrates loyalty and achievement for staying in school and honors excellence in four areas: community, classroom, character and competition.
