Evans Reaches Milestone 100 Assists In Loss To Baylor

Stillwater, Okla. ---- Jawun Evans recorded assist No. 100 on the season in a 69-65 loss to Baylor on Wednesday night during the annual Remember The 10 game at Gallagher-Iba Arena.
Evans' 100 assists moved him into fourth in Oklahoma State history for most assists by a freshman.
The milestone assist was his seventh on the night, and came with 3:28 remaining in the first half off a Chris Olivier layup that gave the Cowboys a 27-19 lead.
Evans finished the night with nine points and a career-high 10 assists.
The Cowboys were in position to pull the upset over the No. 17 team in the country late in the game after a key 7-3 run that was capped off with a Joe Burton three with 3:59 left.
A few minutes later, Jeff Newberry went to the line with 2:06 remaining and made both to give Oklahoma State a 63-62 lead.
Baylor lead 66-63 with 32 seconds left, but a Olivier layup out of an Oklahoma State cut the deficit to one with less than 20 seconds remaining.
The Bears capitalized at the free throw line during the final possessions to hold on for the win.
Oklahoma State led 32-27 at halftime after holding a double-digit lead 12 minutes into the half.
Bench points were key for the Cowboys from the start as they outscored Baylor 25-12 in that category.
Taurean Prince led the way for Baylor with 17 points and six rebounds. Â
Alongside Evans, Oklahoma State also had impact performances from Olivier and Leyton Hammonds. Olivier finished with 17 points, and Hammonds finished with 12.
