Cowgirls Fall at Iowa State, 49-42

AMES, Iowa — Oklahoma State's women's basketball team suffered its first Big 12 loss of the season on Saturday afternoon, falling 49-42 to Iowa State in front of 8,429 fans inside Hilton Coliseum.
The Cowgirls (11-2 overall, 1-1 Big 12) held the Cyclones (10-3, 2-0) to a 22.6 percent (12-53) shooting effort, but could not overcome 17 turnovers and a 25-5 margin in free-throw attempts.
OSU closed the first quarter on a 5-0 run to lead 14-12 and never trailed in the second with each squad scoring just seven points apiece in the period. Sophomore Mandy Coleman finished the half with nine points to stake OSU to a 21-19 lead at the break.
The Cowgirls opened the second half with back-to-back baskets and built their lead to seven at 28-21 on a layup from sophomore Kaylee Jensen with 5:54 to go in the period. Iowa State regained the lead with two minutes to go on a Nicole Blaskowsky before Coleman and Jensen closed the quarter with a pair of baskets to put OSU back in front, 33-30.
ISU held OSU scoreless in the fourth until the 3:41 mark and the Cowgirls would never get closer than three the rest of the way.
Coleman finished with 13 points and 10 rebounds, while Jensen also logged a double-double, finishing with 10 points and a career-high 19 rebounds.
Seanna Johnson led all scorers, finishing with 16 points for the Cyclones.
OSU will return to action on Jan. 6 when it travels to Lubbock, Texas to face Texas Tech.
