Kansas Postgame Notes
January 19, 2016 | Cowboy Basketball
- Oklahoma State knocked off No. 3/3 Kansas for a third straight time and for the fifth time in the last seven meetings inside Gallagher-Iba Arena. OSU has now beaten the Jayhawks in each of the last four seasons, making the Cowboys the only team to do so.
- Travis Ford's Cowboy squads have now beaten 21 ranked opponents in his time at OSU, including 11 top 10 and five top five squads.
- Tonight marked OSU's 14th win over an Associated Press top-three ranked opponent, and its 26th over a top-five squad.
- It's the seventh time that an unranked OSU squad beat an AP top three squad, and four of those have come over Kansas.
- It was the largest margin of victory in the series since Kansas' 27-point win on Feb. 21 2011.
- Jawun Evans led the way again with 22 points, eight assists and six rebounds.
- Jeffrey Carroll piled up 11 first-half points. It was his 12th career double-digit scoring game.
- OSU set a new season-high with 11 3-pointers.
- Tonight marked the first time since the Jan. 2 game against TCU in which the Cowboys led at the half. In fact, OSU was down by at least 12 points in each of the last four games.
- The Cowboys wore grey jerseys for the first time this season. OSU wore the same greys for their upsets over the Jayhawks in each of the last two seasons.
- OSU honored Kansas radio legend Bob Davis at halftime, and presented the longtime voice of the Jayhawks with a cowboy hat. Davis will retire at the end of the season - his 32nd calling KU games.
- The Cowboys started Jawun Evans, Jeff Newberry, Leyton Hammonds, Jeffrey Carroll and Mitchell Solomon for the fourth straight game.
- OSU has made at least one three-pointer in 502 consecutive games dating back to Jan. 13, 2001.
- The Cowboys have blocked at least one shot in every game this season, and entered tonight's contest ranked 45th nationally in blocked shots per game.
