September 25, 2015 | Cowgirl Tennis
STILLWATER—Oklahoma State women's tennis team opened the fall season with a number of strong performances on Friday.
The Cowgirls competed several times throughout the day, without surrendering a single match. Four Cowgirls were in action at the Country Club of Little Rock, where they posted seven wins on Friday.
Seniors Kelsey Laurente and Maria Alvarez started things off for the Cowgirls by posting a 6-1 doubles victory against Arkansas. The duo also picked up a second doubles victory later in the day against Ole Miss, winning 6-3.
Vladica Babic and Katarina Adamovic provided the third doubles point of the day for the Cowgirls, defeating Memphis, 6-3.
Laurente continued her hot streak by defeating Flavia Araujo of Arkansas in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3.
Carla Tur Mari represented the orange and black in the OU Invitational. Tur Mari won her first match of the Sooner Bracket, defeating Olaya Garrido-Rivas in three sets, 2-6, 6-1, 6-3.
"I am very pleased with the way our girls competed today," coach Chris Young said. "It was the first tournament of the fall for everyone, so to come out and win every match on the first day is obviously a good start."
The Cowgirls will continue play in both tournaments on Saturday. The draws for Saturday's competition have not yet been announced.
