Five Things You Didn't Know About Chris Olivier
September 22, 2015 | Cowboy Basketball
There's more to Oklahoma State forward Chris Olivier than just basketball. Check out these five things you probably didn't know about the Chicago native.
Â
Biggest learning curve:
I've played for a lot of different teams and learn something different everywhere I go. I would say the biggest thing I've learned is that it doesn't matter what level you're playing at, you just have to play hard and give it your all. If you do that, you can be successful.
Â
Behind the jersey number:
I've worn No. 30 on my jersey since I was little. When I was in high school, I wanted to be No. 30 because of Julian Wright, who played at Kansas. We went to the same high school and he was my favorite player, but they retired his number so I couldn't wear it and just went one up with No. 31.
Â
Chi-town heroes:
Of course, Michael Jordan has to be the best ever. That's a huge superstition of mine always, wearing Jordan shoes and everything like that. Growing up in Chicago, Derrick Rose is another guy everyone looks up to. My era watching him be great in the city on and of the court, everyone wants to be great like him.
Â
Favorite part of Stillwater:
It's been a different experience for me. I like the small-town feel, even though I'm from Chicago. Everybody is nice with the southern hospitality, welcoming you in and I've really appreciated everything so far. The people here have made me feel at home.
Â
Most embarrassing basketball moment:
I missed a dunk in a game one time. It was bad because I was on a fast break by myself with nobody around me. I tried to get fancy and do a windmill dunk, but I missed it.
