Cowboys Move Into Second At Olympia Fields

OLYMPIA FIELDS, Ill. — Oklahoma State's men's golf team climbed one spot into a tie for second place at the Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational after posting a 285 on Saturday during its second round at Olympia Fields Country Club.
The Cowboys' 5-over score gave them a 36-hole tally of 567, tying them with Florida State for the second position. Stanford moved into the top spot on the leaderboard, using a 284 during its second round at the par-70, 7,353-yard layout to stand at 565.
Stanford's Maverick McNealy followed an opening 67 with a 65 to stand at 132 and five shots clear of the field in the individual race.
A pair of Cowboys finished the day at 142 and tied for 12th place. Sophomore Sam Stevens posted a 73, while senior Jordan Niebrugge carded his second consecutive 71 to get to his total.
Sophomore Kristoffer Ventura signed for the squad's low round of the day, carding a 70 to get in with a 143 total and tied for 15th place.
Junior Wyndham Clark posted a 71 to stand at 144 and tied for 23rd place, while redshirt freshman Nick Heinen's 76 tied him for 26th place at 145.
The Cowboys will get their final round underway tomorrow at 8:35 a.m. (CST) and will be grouped with Stanford and Florida State.
