STILLWATER – Mason Rudolph threw for a career-high 401 yards and the Oklahoma State offense gained 578 yards as the Cowboys defeated Central Arkansas 32-8 in the first meeting of the schools.
The Cowboys struck first with a with a 31-yard Ben Grogan field goal on their second possession, and made the score 10-0 at the close of the opening quarter behind a 21-yard Chris Carson touchdown run, the first of his career at the FBS level.
A 67-yard pass from Rudolph to Glidden on the Cowboys' first possession of the second half made it 17-0. It was a career-long reception for the senior and the first of three 30-plus yard catches in a career-best 145-yard day.
Central Arkansas' Desmond Smith scored the team's lone touchdown of the day on a trick play with a 39-yard reception.
Glidden added another touchdown catch on a 31-yard score, Cowboy back Jeremy Seaton scored on a 6-yard pass from backup quarterback J.W. Walsh and the Cowboys finished off their 20th straight win in a home opener.
Gundy, now 9-0 vs. FCS opponents, also had help from his defense, which held UCA to 12 first downs and 220 total offensive yards. Jimmy Bean and All-American candidate Emmanuel Ogbah each recorded a sack, with Ogbah now recording at least one sack in eight of his last 10 games.
