Miller Takes Hammer Throw Crown
July 08, 2015 | Cowboy Cross Country & Track
BIRMINGHAM, U.K. – Cowboy star Nick Miller took home the gold on the biggest stage in Britain, winning the hammer throw competition at the 2015 Sainsbury British Championships.
Miller threw a 75.88m/249-0 heave in just his first attempt and held onto the lead for the entire flight to claim his second straight British title. Miller cruised to the win as his closest competitor was Chris Bennett of Shaftesbury, England, who threw a 73.02m mark in his final throw. Miller's throw was a meter shy of his career best of 76.97m from earlier this year at the Stanford Invitational.
Former Cowboy great Tom Farrell claimed the 5,000-meter British title in 13:42.20, besting 2013 champion Andy Vernon in the final two laps to take the two-second win. Farrell ran the 27th best time in the world in the 5,000, with a 13:17.87 back in May.
Miller and Farrell will both be back in action in August when the IAAF World Championships begin in Beijing, China, August 22.
