July 23, 2015 | Cowboy Cross Country & Track
STILLWATER – The Cowboy track and field program added a pair of Big Ten veterans to the roster for the upcoming season, coach Dave Smith announced Wednesday.
Tre'tez Kinnaird from Indiana University and Bradley Johnson from the University of Minnesota both come to Stillwater with two years of indoor and outdoor eligibility remaining.
"I'm thrilled with the additions of Brad and Tre'tez," middle distance coach Bobby Lockhart said. "They add depth to our middle distance crew and they'll make an immediate impact on the track."
Kinnaird was a two-time state champion in the 800-meter run at Butler high school in Louisville, Kentucky, before he competed for the Hoosiers.
While at Indiana, he earned All-America honors while running for the distance medley relay team as a freshman, and recorded a personal best of 1:47.13 in the 800 at the 2014 World Junior Championships. He also ran the fourth fastest 800 in school history as a sophomore at the Billy Hayes Invitational in 2015.
Johnson joins the Cowboys with a career best of 1:49.85 in the 800-meter run. The junior from Brookfield, Wisconsin, qualified for the NCAA West Regionals in 2015 with the Golden Gophers' 4X400-meter relay team and individually in the 800-meter run.
He was a six-time All-Big Ten athlete in his two years at Minnesota, including a third place finish as a member of the Gopher DMR squad in 2015.
Johnson and Kinnaird will both be eligible for competition in the 2015-16 indoor and outdoor seasons.
