May 14, 2015 | Cowgirl Softball
STILLWATER, Okla. -- Oklahoma State softball standouts Shelby Davis and Tiffany Mikkelson were both named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association's All-Midwest Region softball team, it was announced today. Davis was selected to the first team, while Mikkelson was named to the third team.
This marks the second-consecutive selection for both Cowgirls, as Davis and Mikkelson both garnered spots in 2014.
Davis, a centerfielder from Goddard, Kan., led the Big 12 in batting average (.440) and stolen bases (45) this season, placing her at No. 2 on the all-time list at OSU in both categories. She also became the first Cowgirl in school history to be selected in the National Pro Fastpitch College Draft, going eighth-overall to the PA Rebellion.
Mikkelson, a third team selection, was one of only two Cowgirls to start in all 52 games this season. The Aliso Viejo, Calif., native was huge in the clean-up spot, posting top-ten conference marks in home runs, RBI, on-base percentage and slugging percentage. Her 13 home runs marked the second-highest single-season total in school history.
The all-region teams were voted on by NFCA member coaches from each respective region, and all the honorees now become eligible for selection to one of three 2015 NFCA Division I All-American teams.
