Twenty Cowgirls Earn NCEA Academic Awards

WACO, Texas - Twenty members of the Oklahoma State equestrian team were named to the 2015 National Collegiate Equestrian Association Academic Team and Honor Roll, the league office announced Wednesday.
Katy Krshka, Paris Nottingham, Ty Paris, Miranda Reed and Amy White received First Team honors. Jorden Davis and Allie Joyce were named to the Second Team.
Brenna Brawner, Maggie Drysch, Maggie Gampfer and Lindsey McMullen received Honorable Mention.
Leighona Bernstein, Margaret Botkin, Allison Dooman, Emily Hartley, Olivia Hupy, Allison Hurlbut, Brooke Klimek, Mackenzie Malone and Justine Peters were named to the Honor Roll.
To qualify for the Academic First Team, a rider must have competed in 70 percent of her team's meets and earned a cumulative GPA of 3.5. To qualify for the Academic Second Team, a rider must have competed in 60 percent of her team's meets, while maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.25. To earn Honorable Mention Academic honors, a rider must have participated in 50 percent of her team's meets and must have maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.0.
The NCEA Academic Honor Roll recognizes the top academic student-athletes who have earned a cumulative GPA of 3.25.
The Cowgirls will be back in action April 16-18 when they travel to Waco, Texas, to compete at the 2015 NCEA Championships. Tenth-seeded Oklahoma State will face No. 7 TCU in the first round of competition on Thursday, April 16, at 8:30 a.m.
