Last Time Out
Ieva Zarankaite won her second-straight discus competition March 26 at the Bobcat Invitational on the campus of Texas State University. In just
her first throw, Zarankaite recorded a 54.13m mark, which kept her in the lead for the remainder of the preliminaries and finals. Joining Zarankaite
in the top-10 was Katie Kehl who threw a personal best 46.85m.
In the 4X800-meter relay at the 88th Texas Relays, OSU's team of, Natalja Piliusina, Kaylee Dodd, Ingeborg Loevnes and Savannah Camacho
finished runner-up with a time of 8:45.78.
The success continued Friday for the Oklahoma State track and field program as the Cowgirls added two more top-10 finishes to their record at
the Texas Relays and Bobcat Invitational.
The Cowgirls ran four relay teams at the Texas Relays, and the distance medley relay team led the way for OSU placing second in the event.
Seven-time All-American Natalja Piliusina, Danielle Coleman, Savannah Camacho and Ingeborg Loevnes put up a time of 11:19.03 in the DMR.
Coleman's day wasn't finished as she ran a leg in the 4X400-meter relay along with Stephanie Ferrante, Ambra Wesley and Summor Fields. The
quartet ran a 3:47.02, the seventh fastest time in school history.
At the Bobcat Invitational, Bailey Johnson finished fourth in the 400-meter hurdles, running a 1:01.85, a time that would be the sixth fastest in
school history if Johnson didn't currently rank No. 4 on the list.
At Saturday's Arkansas Spring Invitational, Craig Nowak won the seeded running of the 1,500-meter run by finishing the race in 3:47.01 and
breaking his personal best by three seconds. Anthoney Armstrong, Luis Martinez and Brigham Hedges joined Nowak in the event finishing 4-5-6,
respectively.
Three-time All-Big 12 thrower Itamar Levi threw a 17.95/58-10.75 to win his second straight shot put competition of the 2015 outdoor season. His
throw earned him the second-best mark in the Big 12 this season.
Down in Austin, at day four of the Texas Relays, Chase Ealey took second place in the women's shot put competition. Ealey's first throw of 16.84m
broke the school record that she set at theTulsa Duels earlier this season by a foot and kept her in first place until the fifth round.
Anna Boyert won the women's 800-meter run at the Arkansas Spring Invitational in a personal best 2:09.39. The mark is also the ninth fastest time
in the outdoor 800 in school history and the fastest time in the Big 12 this season.
Joining Boyert in the 800 was Abbie Hetherington. She finished fourth in the event with a time of 2:11.02, the second-fastest Big 12 mark this
season.
The men's 100-meter dash had two Cowboys finish in the top five as Sharod Selph ran a 10.55 to finish runner-up, and Arlando Brewer-Johnson
ran a 10.68, which was good enough for fourth. The two Cowboys' times were both personal bests, and Selph's mark is the fifth fastest in the Big
12 to date.
Big 12 champion Viktoriia Sadokhina returned to form at the Bobcat Invitational jumping 12.53m and finishing second.
A Look Back
Oklahoma State's Kirubel Erassa won his heat of the 10,000 meters at the 2014 Stanford Invitational, in Palo Alto, Calif.
Erassa, in his first outdoor competition of the season, didn't seem to be affected by the scheduled start time of 10:45 p.m. PT. He ran a smooth
and easy race, finishing in 29:02.77, almost eight seconds better than the rest of his heat and the seventh-fastest 10,000 meters in OSU history.
On the women's side, indoor All-American Kaela Edwards (4:26.83) took 12th in a 1,500-meter heat that featured multiple professional runners.
Adela Hofmannova took fifth in her section, with a time of 4:29.65.
In the 5,000 meters, Gintare Zenkeviciute took seventh in her section, finishing in 16:39.21.
Clara Nichols finished fourth in the women's 800 meters in 2:06.83.
In the women's triple jump, Viktoriia Sadokhina finished in second, with a jump of 12.78m/41-11.25.
Cowboys, Cowgirls Debut in Top-15
The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association's preseason outdoor top-25 was released March 24 with both the
Cowgirls and Cowboys making history by debuting together in the top-25 for the first time.
Fresh off a third consecutive top-15 finish at the NCAA Indoor Championships, the Cowboys came in at No. 12 in the preseason rankings. The nod
gives OSU it's highest outdoor preseason ranking ever and its first preseason top-25 spot since it was No. 22 in 2013.
Success on the national stage in recent years has the OSU men's team slotted as the third-highest ranked Big 12 team behind No. 5 Texas and
10th-ranked Texas Tech.
The Cowgirls joined the Cowboys and came in at 14 in the women's rankings, claiming their first preseason top-25 spot and their highest ranking
in the outdoor season ever.
The rankings puts OSU in elite company, making the track and field program one of three big 12 programs to have a men's and women's team in
the top-15.
The next USTFCCCA ranking will be released on April 6.
Ealey No. 1 in School History
Chase Ealey set a new school record in the women's shot put on March 21 at the Tulsa Duels. Just one week later at the 88th Texas Relays,
Ealey threw a 16.84m/55-5.50 in just her first throw in the competition to break her own school record in the event. Ealey's performance gives her
the top spot in three events -- the outdoor and indoor shot put and the javelin.
Earlier in the indoor season, Ealey also set the record for the indoor shot put and qualified for nationals where she received second-team
All-America honors.
Ealey's mark is currently the best in the Big 12 and fourth in the NCAA this season.
