Cowgirl Netters Shut Out Rice, 4-0

STILLWATER - The No. 8 Oklahoma State women's tennis team continues their unbeaten streak at the Greenwood Tennis Center with a controlling 4-0 win over the 64th-ranked Rice Owls.
"I thought the girls did well," coach Chris Young said. "The doubles was good, and I thought the depth of our lineup really showed. Viki (Lushkova) was having a great match that was a lot of fun. The girls just did what they needed to do. We're excited for tomorrow and the opportunity to play outside."
The Cowgirls (11-2; 0-0 Big 12) breezed through doubles, giving up only three games collectively. At the No. 2-spot Katarina Adamovic and Vladica Babic defeated the Ho/Hodge duo handily, 6-1. The Spanish pair of Maria Alvarez and Carla Tur Mari earned a 6-1 win of their own on court three over Zinko and Durkin.
OSU carried that momentum into singles, with Cowgirls on courts four, five and six quickly winning their first sets.
Carla Tur Mari played Alison Ho on court five, who she dominated in straight sets with a 6-1, 6-0 win. The sophomore improved to 6-2 on the spring.
She was closely followed by Alvarez, who turned in a 6-2, 6-0 performance on court six over Solomiya Zinko, notching her 56th career win.
Closing out the match was No. 105 Vladica Babic, who put together a 6-2, 6-4 win over Savannah Durkin on court four, giving the Cowgirls their ninth win over a ranked opponent this season.
Play on the remaining courts was not finished; however sophomore All-American Viktoriya Lushkova put herself in a good position as she led No. 25 Natalie Beazant, 6-4, 3-2, on court one.
The Cowgirls will be back on the court tomorrow as they face No. 31 New Mexico at the Greenwood Tennis Center at 2 p.m.
