Krshka Named Big 12 Rider of the Month

STILLWATER - Oklahoma State equestrian senior Katy Krshka was named Big 12 Rider of the Month in reining for the month of February, the league office announced Thursday. Krshka was also named the February NCEA Rider of the Month for reining earlier this week.
The honor is Krshka's fourth career Big 12 Rider of the Month honor in reining, and first of the season in the event. It is Krshka's second overall Big 12 monthly honor this season. She was named Big 12 Rider of the Month in horsemanship for November.
Krshka had an outstanding February, riding to a perfect 3-0 mark in reining while also picking up three MOP (Most Outstanding Performer) honors in the event. The senior Cowgirl helped push the Cowgirls to a 3-0 record in February, with all three wins coming over ranked opponents.
Krshka opened the month with a 72-71.5 win over Brynn Critcher in the Cowgirls' win over No. 9 Kansas State. In a victory over TCU that was decided in raw scores, Krshka defeated Brooke Boyle, 72-70. The Yukon, Okla., native wrapped up her impressive month with a 74-68.5 triumph over Baylor's Ginger Chant to upset the top-ranked Bears.
In her senior season, Katy Krshka is 14-2 overall with a 7-1 record in both reining and horsemanship. Krshka has also picked up nine MOP honors on the year.
Krshka and the Cowgirls will be back in action this Sunday, March 8, when they travel to Dallas, Texas, to face No. 10 SMU at 10 a.m.
