Cowgirl Tennis Defeats Princeton in San Diego

SAN DIEGO - No. 11 Oklahoma State women's tennis earned a dominant 6-1 win over Princeton in San Diego on Saturday.
"It's been a good week of training and today our girls competed well," coach Chris Young said. "We are especially grateful to Madeleine Pickens for hosting us again at Del Mar. It's a great privilege for us to come out here and host other programs. Now we look forward to finishing strong in conference play."
The Cowgirls (14-3, 1-1 Big 12) swept the competition in doubles. The 57th-ranked doubles team of Vladica Babic and Katarina Adamovic shut out Princeton's Muliawan and Tang, 6-0. Maria Alvarez and Carla Tur Mari sealed the doubles point on court two with a 6-4 win against Steffensen and Hahn. On court one, the No. 7 duo of Viktoriya Lushkova and Kelsey Laurente closed out the doubles portion, defeating the Graff/Wolff team, 6-4.
In singles, the Cowgirls won on courts one, three, four, five and six.
On six, Tur Mari outmatched Katie Goepel in straight sets, beating the Tiger, 6-0, 6-3.
Following up with a dominating performance on court five was Maria Alvarez, who won a 6-1, 6-3 decision against Dorothy Tang.
Ranked 87th in the nation, Adamovic clinched the match for OSU with a solid 6-3, 7-6(3) win over Alanna Wolf in the No. 3 spot.
Competition continued on courts one, two and four.
Babic was next to win, picking up a 7-6(1), 6-3 victory against Katrine Steffensen on court four.
The Cowgirls surrendered only one team point with the Tigers taking the match on court two.
Closing out the day was No. 13 Lushkova, who forced her match with Lindsay Graff to a third set after dropping the first set, 6-1. She fought back in the second, winning 7-5 and went on to take the third set, 6-2.
OSU returns to competition with Big 12 action against TCU in Fort Worth, Texas, on March 27 at 5:30 p.m.
